Who are you?
We are looking for a data engineer who likes to create data-driven software and architectures in the Cloud. You are familiar with back-end programming languages such as Java, Scala or Python. Knowledge of Cloud technologies is a plus, a keen interest in them is a must.
You’ll be working with Big Data technologies like Spark and Kafka, while implementing data services in Azure or AWS. Your most important skill is communication, both with clients and with team members. We’re looking for people who have the capabilities to, in due time, take the lead in projects and are responsible for project delivery.
What can we offer you?
You will work in a growing company with plenty of opportunities for self-growth and for learning new skills. You make up your career and we will guide you! Next to this, you will be able to work on the most innovative projects close to home.
We stay away from body shopping and try to make sure that we work for our clients in teams of multiple InfoFarmers. We don’t believe in dropping you for several years at a client without any connection with your colleagues, but strongly encourage working together at one of our offices. Nevertheless, some time at the client’s office is still necessary in order to communicate clearly and thoroughly.
To give you a better understanding on what type of profile we are looking for, we want you to meet one of your future colleagues.

Meet Jasper Callaerts
As a Mathematical Engineer, I have a background in data science. During my study for this degree at the KU Leuven, I developed a passion for creating smart Machine Learning algorithms. Since I started working at InfoFarm, I got my certificate as an AWS practitioner and focused mainly on data engineering, namely building Big Data & ML architectures in AWS (using S3, Lambda, Glue, EMR, SageMaker, CloudFormation, QuickSight, etc.).
Furthermore, I am very interested in the business side of data science, or data strategy. That is why I am also regularly involved in the workshops we give. We sit together with companies and search for the optimal way to use data to gain business insights and develop a data strategy.
To end on a personal note: I currently live in the beautiful city of Ghent, where I enjoy drinking a beer with my friends near the water, making beautiful bike rides, or watching movies/tv-series (when I’m not programming in Python of course).

Big Data Environment setup
Cloud Data Engineer
Set up of a new Big Data Cluster at VDAB for the standardization of the intake and processing of different data sources, and for the creation of a framework to aid the staff in the development and deployment of new data sources. We use Spark for disributed processing.
Cloud ML Pipeline
Cloud Data Science Engineer
Setting up a price-prediction tool in the Cloud with Azure ML, building a linear regression model and a random forest model with Python. We have performed a feature selection to optimize the accuracy of the Machine Learning algorithms and used Azure AutoML to define the best model.
Streaming architecture
Data Tech Lead
Providing support to a data team in altering their current functions to a batch/streaming architecture. I’m using Apache Hadoop and Kafka to setup the Streaming architecture and I evaluated the capabilities of the application on Graph Databases.
