Can we build a centralized environment where data can be shared between emergency services?
Digipolis is one of the most innovative intstitutions in Belgium regarding IT solutions for cities and its citizens. With their ACPaaS environment, they use modular software building blocks to build a wide range of innovative solutions.
One of the new projects involved building a platform where emergency services could share data and alerts on emergencies and interventions. The goal was to reuse components of the generic Big Data environment to set up a new platform for the emergency services.
The problem
Whenever an emergency occured, police, healthcare or fire department services were alerted individually. The data they need for an intervention is not centralized, and not easily shared between different teams. They were in need for a solution that automatically fetches all relevant information from different systems when an intervention occurs, and shares this information between teams.
Emergency Service Platform
The Emergency platform fetches all relevant information for an intervention, based on the type and the location. It can fetch building plans from city archives, find relevant camera locations, look at weather information, …
The platform also has integrated AI capabilities for automated license plate recognition or scanning containers for dangerous contents. In the future, these capabilities can be expanded even further.
The speed and automation of this platform ensures the right information can be made available to the right person, and that new information coming in is automatically available to all caretakers involved
